Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf’s a flower
But only so an hour
Then life subsides to leaf
So Eden sank to grief
So dawn goes down to day
Nothing gold can stay

The poem is such a beautiful poem, why? It teaches us the morality with the connotation of words which are containing deep meaning. All of us are aiming to get the gold (money, position, power, partner/mate), but we have to remember that “dawn goes down to day”, the world will end and even gold can not stay. So, don’t do any bad things to get our gold, just follow the flow of life. Do the right thing anytime anywhere because everything will end. The happiness and those kinds of gold just stay for a while, “but only so an hour”.

Hope this message of poem makes us better and we always do the right things to reach our gold. And we have to remember there is no everlasting gold in our life.

This website is fabulous for me. Why? First, for the appearance, I am interested in the layout. It is very attractive and colorful. There are many choices in this site. It covers all of the skills in English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening). In the other words, it is complete for me. It provides the link to the other useful ESL/EFL site, let me say Rong Chang, Lewis, Susan Lebeau, Elizabeth, and many more. We can try many exercises there. Beside that, it provides games and quizzes. It is no doubt that this site called best TESOL, ESL, TESL resources.

The most interesting thing for me in this website is “GRE Vocabulary Review”, in here we can listen and memorize over 7500 GRE words, which have appeared in the previous ETS GRE exams. Want to know? Check this website, you will have no regret.

I think the practicability is very satisfying for me because all of the features are related to the language learning. It is one of the sites which can be the source of our learning.We can practice our grammar, practice TOEFL and TOEIC, download many materials here related to our learning, and many more.

For the appearance, it attracts me so much by using pictures. It provides variety online exercises, interactive quizzes, interactive PowerPoint videos, interactive listening and more. We can also download PowerPoint lesson, worksheet e-books, video, mp3/podcast audio and complete lesson plans sample.

The content is complete and very attractive, especially in worksheet that we can download and print it out. This site has a very comprehensive collection of brief grammar explanations for students.

About the appearance, I think it is interesting. It combines colorful letters and few pictures. The decoration and layout play a crucial part in determining the effectiveness of it.

The content is not complete for language learning I think, because it provides many listening materials from the reliable source of listening such as: Randall’s, Literacy net, and many more. We can get a good practice in listening because it teaches communications and active listening skills. Listening materials. This site presents the essential communication skills needed to communicate effectively in the work environment. It uses workplace examples to increase our communication skill in English.

I think the practicability is not really satisfying for me because the features are just focus in one thing, listening, maybe it is a good thing but it is not interesting for me. But, if you want to increase your listening ability. It is the right place. You can choose the link for the listening by looking at the review there. It contains the advantages and disadvantages, so you can decide whether or not you are suitable to the listening practice.

About the appearance, in my point of view, it is very distracting. Why? Because the picture of the website’s owner. It is too much and very distracting. This is because a website which contains too much of decorations will definitely confusing and distracting. I think one picture in the top corner will be better and fill the other with the interesting features to support this site.

This is an interesting website I think. The focus is on the listening. It provides video about the whole skills in English. But, about the content it is no doubt that it is very comprehensive in mixing listening skills with the other skills like grammar, pronunciation, and the content of video itself is very useful for learner.

We can download video related to what we want to listen, and we can also do the listening practice online. Beside that, we can give comment and Jennifer will answer it.

This site is offering a lot of interesting and useful materials for free and here is what sets LingoZone.com apart from similar sites: it use friendly layout, has simple and clear navigation , it is such an interactive vocabulary trainer, and fast message system where you can meet pen pals.

If you want to join this site and become member, you have to register. After that, you will be a member and have your own profile like in the face book. You can chat with your pen pals all over the world. Through yahoo you will able to do voice chat to your friend that have the language you want to learn. I believe that it is the best site to increase our vocabulary.

Kaye Mastin Mallory, an English teacher from California, is the creator of this website where you will find a wide range of English language related topics. These features make Kaye's site so valuable:

• comprehensive grammar explanations and exercises
• lots of interactive exercises
• printable worksheets for teachers
• phrasal verb dictionary
• idioms

Some of the materials are free to use, others are fee based. So, we have to be smart in choosing material launch.

This website provides the links to the free ESL/EFL site. This website also makes it possible to learn the other languages, like: Spanish, etc. The appearance is always changing every time we browse it.

It provides lesson collection that very complete for our learning. It can be a source for teacher to make their teaching more different and attractive by downloading fun English lesson worksheet here. We can download it easily.

The appearance is interesting and colorful. The features divided by table that makes we can go through easily without taking a lot of time. It is simple, clear, and attractive. It also provides ESLoop which contains unlimited information that we want to look for. ESLoop is a collection of sites relevant to English Language Teaching and Learning on the World-Wide Web. Each site is linked to the next, so that no matter where you start, you will eventually make your way around all the sites and end up back at the beginning.

The lessons on this site were originally designed to satisfy the needs of lower and upper intermediate adult student. Beside that, it provides links and specification of exercises for us in the table available.

I review whether it is interesting or not, what we can learn about in the website, they have many features or not, and what kinds of activities we can do in the website. In my point of view, most of them have an attractive and interesting lay out (appearance) and some of them have complete features and cover all of the skills in learning English. Adorable, happiness, coherence
They should be in nation
Violence, rudeness, ignorance
Emerge in the middle of perfection

You used to hypnotize the world
You spread a lovely perfume
You always invite their told
That full of positive assume

There is no fire but it was burning out flame
Gliding through our nation
Gap makes us not the same
Selfish rooted towards own passion

It’s so hard to get thumb
Because ignorance is our best friend
All creatures become so numb
Little space becomes distance

Please come back my wholesome places
With so much love and full of care
It’s never too late to change circumstances
Soar on the hope of welfare

Our hope never crashed down
Let it come out from the ground
Raise the spirit from all around
And finally it can be found

This is my second poem after “Our Precious Moment”. I wrote this poem as one of the assignment from Maam Rismaya. She asked us to make a poem about our beloved country, Indonesia. I didn’t know what to write about this country but finally I express my hope in this poem. It’s never too late for us to make our country getting better than now.

“Our Precious Moment”

It's so hard to find the perfect night
One warm, quiet and not far
Carrying a beautiful light
And a closeness to the shine of star

It's so hard to find the perfect breeze
One blowing none too hard nor soft
Carrying a scent of wild flowers
And moving clouds about aloft

But they are not hard to find
if we go through together
Although we have a different mind
It is not an obstacle to gather

A sense of belonging
An aura of completeness
A comfortable existence
Adding up and summarizing
The feelings and beliefs
There is no meaningful difference

Controlling the thoughts, words, actions
Capturing the moment
Leading the way for conscious
This is the time we spent

We promise never to untie
The strings we have tied in this lovely place
Our moment is not possible to buy
It is such a precious case

Let our friendship be a bond,
And that's the way it should be
This can never be like a dry pond
This is us and the world will see

I wrote this poem when I was in third semester. I wrote it to join the competition held by ESA. I became the first winner in that competition. I was really surprise because I think this is my first English poem. This is a good start for me to increase my ability in expressing my ideas and feelings through poem. I won’t stop writing, especially writing a poem.

The life which can make me smile although there are so many problems and things to do …

Finish talking about life, now, it’s the turn to talk about learning because it is the main purpose of our project, right?
Learning? What is it? Some said, “it is the process to make us know an understand something. “ Some other says, “it is the process to change behavior.” In my point of view, those statements are true. We can get knowledge and skills through learning.
It can take place anywhere and anytime, can be in the real world, and virtual or online. But, it might be very different in the situation because in virtual learning, presence or existence is a crucial thing to be considered. We have to do or write something if we want to exist there.

Why this blog named as ‘Express Your English’?

I believe that English is a means of communication for the people all over the world and we have to know and learn about it in order to be able to use it for our communication. But, if we just know about it, even master the language without expressing it, so, what for? Other people can not catch our ideas, we can not express it because we just have the knowledge but lack of practicing. That is why I named my blog ‘Express Your English’. In here, I’ll be free to express whatever in my mind by using English because internet makes us become more creative and expressive. This is the place to practice the language.
